Concrete Homes

Light Weight Concrete Construction

Longevity, maintenance and lasting appeal are certainly areas where New Zealand residential construction can be improved after many decades of lightweight homes built quickly at the lowest cost.More people are now realizing the appreciating value of more substantial construction methods, their lower lifecycle cost and benefits in erecting lasting homes in desirable areas that will serve a family for several generations as prime land becomes scarcer.

Our concrete homes are not built of blocks

Concrete blocks are typically pumice block forms of little strength filled with concrete grout, are very porous and offer little insulation value.

We use the internationally proven Architectural Framing System, AFS™

Concrete Construction

AFS™ Wall panel before concrete fill

AFS™ LOGICWALL is a permanent formwork structural concrete walling system for external and internal walls. It consists of shop-drawn light-weight panels created by bonding hard-wearing, reinforced fibre cement sheets to galvanized steel stud frames. The panels are hand erected on site then braced, reinforced and services are placed in the walls. They are then core-filled with concrete and finished with joint setting, skim coat and/or painting systems directly onto the fibre cement sheeting.

This system has been widely used in Australia, UK, Canada, India and USA primarily for multi storey residential, commercial and retaining projects.

AFS™ New Zealand the Stuart Wood Home Builders team have combined skills to offer this far superior wall system.

Thermalwall has been created by adding exterior insulation which is the key.

Structural and bracing strength, design flexibility, sound and heat transfer, maintenance and movement are all vastly superior to most systems currently available for a minimal cost premium.

Coupled with concrete mid floors, double glazing, selected internal walls and sound rated doors a living environment experienced in European and stately English homes is now available in New Zealand.
